The Process Begins
Posted by Michael Beck under Army, Application
So I’ve spent a lot of time talking with SFC Dullaghan. This guy is top notch. While I have to keep in mind he is a recruiter, he is really an extraordinary ‘player’ or he is just one damn nice guy. He doesn’t bullshit me like a normal recruiter. He goes out of his way to make sure I understand the good and the bad completely. He has no problems with working around my hectic schedule with the kids and family. Even his wife is incredibly pretty and sweet to boot. He must have had his dress blues on the day he met her ;)
Overall though, he really made me feel good about this. He’s shown confidence in me, which really goes a long way for me. I don’t really know what it feels like for someone to be proud of me or believe in me. And for a total stranger to tell me that he really thinks I could do more than your average person, it means a lot. Even if he is just saying it to lure me in……
All in all though, he’s got me. I did a pre-test in his office, and he was quite impressed with my score. I made an 84 on the test, with 31 being passing. He said I should have no trouble getting any job in the Army Reserves I desired. And that really made me feel good.
I need this. I need to get in shape, be forced to get out and do something with myself. As things are right now, I dread even getting up in the morning. I spend my day typing on a computer, and taking care of a newborn. I am too smart and too capable to be wasting my life away. I need the Army to re-program me, and re-build me from the ground up. I need to be something worth the air I breathe.
We set up my initial testing at the MEPS in Fort Gillem Georgia. I will go in Tuesday to take the ASVAB and AIMS. That will be the first step into seeing if I can get a job I want in the army, or if I can even get into the army at all.
Wish me luck
